Included in a typical proposal
- Diagnosis and configuration changes that can be completed in an authorised remote session.
- Guidance for the user sitting at the machine.
- A written outcome, including “needs onsite” when that is the result.
IT SUPPORT
Get help with issues that can be investigated through an authorised remote session. We work with your users to understand the fault, make the agreed changes and check the result.
WHAT THIS SERVICE IS
Remote IT support is investigation and repair through an authorised session on a user’s computer or through the administration tools you already own, such as Microsoft 365 admin. It is the right first step when the fault is in software, accounts, printers mapped over the network, or a configuration that can be seen without opening a cabinet. It is the wrong first step when a machine will not power on, a cable is damaged, or nobody present can approve the session.
A useful remote session has a person from your team on the other side who can describe what they see, enter their own password when prompted, and confirm that the original task works again. We do not install unsupervised remote-control software as a permanent back door. If a tool must remain for an AMC, it is named, limited and removable.
Remote support does not replace onsite work. It filters it. Many “network” complaints are a failed Wi-Fi profile, a stale DNS cache or a mailbox that has filled. Those are remote jobs. A switch with a dead port is not.
A CLEAR PICTURE
What stopped, when, who is affected, and whether it follows a password change, an update or a move between home and office.
A session the user can see, or admin access your owner has approved for that incident. The method is written down.
Make the smallest change that matches the diagnosis, then watch the original task succeed on that machine.
Close, watch, visit, or quote a separate piece of work. Ambiguous closes waste the next call.
WHO IT IS FOR
Remote support is for offices where someone can sit at the affected machine, and for administrators who can grant time-boxed access to a tenant or firewall. It is a poor fit for unattended kiosks, locked-down devices with no screen sharing, or faults that only appear on a specific piece of hardware in a cupboard.
TYPICAL SCOPE
Outlook profiles, mailbox rules, shared calendars, Teams meetings that will not join, and browser-based business applications. We work within the licences and permissions you already have. We do not “fix” a vendor outage by guessing, and we do not change another company’s tenant without written authority.
Sign-in loops, expired multi-factor methods, forgotten account recovery, and approved permission changes. Privileged roles are changed only when your named owner asks. Password reset policy and conditional access are treated as security decisions, not as casual toggles.
Slow start-up, failed printers, missing drives, and configuration drift after a Windows update. Hardware failure is identified rather than endlessly tuned. If the disk is dying, the remote session’s job is to say so and to help you back up what can still be read, not to pretend a visit is unnecessary.
A short note of the cause, the change made, and whether an onsite visit, a licence, or a project is the next honest step. If we cannot reproduce the fault remotely, that is recorded instead of a false close.
INCLUDED AND QUOTED SEPARATELY
AFTER HANDOVER
When the session ends, the user should be able to complete the task that failed. Any temporary elevation or remote tool used for the incident is removed or documented. Copies of error screens stay with the ticket, not in a private chat.
If the same issue is likely to return, the note should say what would prevent it — a licence, a policy change, training, or an onsite inspection — without turning that prevention into unpaid project work.
PLANNING THE WORK
No. Your named owner grants the specific access required for the incident. Shared “admin” passwords in a notebook are a risk we will ask you to retire.
If the machine is off or nobody can approve the session, remote support cannot proceed. Unattended work is a different, written arrangement.
If they can join a session and the fault is in software or accounts, yes. Home routers, personal ISPs and family devices are out of scope unless the proposal includes them.
